Hon. Wisdom Ghaghara, President General of Oghior Community, has declared that the Oghior Primary School in Oghior, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, would one day produce the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, just like Katsina College (now Barewa College in Zaria) which has produced five Nigerian Presidents/Heads of State since it was founded in 1921 in Katsina.

Hon. Ghaghara, who is Chairman of Hon. Wisdom Ghaghara Educational Foundation made the assertion while donating educational materials worth hundreds of thousands of naira to the school pupils on Monday at the School premises.

He urged the pupils to take their academic work seriously in the emerging world of educational competitiveness to be better citizens ready to face the world.

Ghaghara, a former Councilor and Udu LGC Chairmanship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress at the last Local Government elections in Delta State, stated that his gesture was borne out of the need to promote academic excellence and encourage the less privileged to pursue their dreams without let.

He added that the only indelible legacy any parent could bequeath to his ward is education.

He promised to institute an Oghior Educational Trust Fund by the December conference of the community to help tackle the infrastructural deficit in the schools while also addressing the needs of the ordinary pupils of the school, his alma mater, who might be facing serious challenges in their educational pursuit.

The donated items include notebooks, textbooks, biros, rulers, mathematical sets, and school uniforms.

He disclosed that the community, under his leadership, has sent some members of the youth body to various skill acquisition centres through the intervention of NPDC and other humanitarian agencies.

He called called on the people to support the goodwill to encourage agencies that are eager to bring development to the community. Distancing the programme from political affiliation, Ghaghara promised to do everything within his power to attract more development programmes to the community.

Speaking during the ceremony, Comrade Joseph Eyovwerhuvwu, Chairman of the Oghior Community Education Committee, commended Ghaghara for the kind gesture, noting that under his watch, education has received a boost in the community.

”Before now teachers posted to Oghior used to work their transfer out of the town to other places. But through the intervention of the committee, stability has come into the educational composite of the school, while efforts are on to ensure more classroom blocks are built in the school,” he said.

Mrs. Eduiyovwiri Victoria, Head Teacher of the school, in her remarks, expressed gratitude to Ghaghara for the initiative, appealing to community leaders in Udu to emulate his efforts in providing the needed facilities towards engendering qualitative education in the school.
