Ughelli – Following the continued invasion of communities in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State by the military who are in search of militants, especially members of the Niger Delta Avengers, the Ogbe-Ijoh Community Governing Council has raised the alarm over a rumoured invasion of their community by the military in search of suspected militants.

The Ogbe-Ijoh governing council in a statement signed by its chairman, Alaowei Alex Akemetubo, and secretary, Aaron Oweizi-Ebiye, described the rumour as a calculated ploy to tarnish the image of the community.

They pointed out in the statement that Ogbe-Ijoh community is not harbouring militants under any guise.

He said: “We are scared that this rumoured invasion by the military is a ploy by our neighbouring community that we are having a land dispute with, to invade us just like they did some years back,” the statement added.

According to the statement, the JTF officials stationed at Ogbe-Ijoh can attest to the peaceful atmosphere of the community as anytime this rumour filters into the community, residents fly in droves over fears of being molested

Exonerating the community from the activities of militants in the region, the council said, “There is no need for the military to make attempt to invade our community because Ogbe-Ijoh is not a base for militants”.
