Benin – Dr. Pius Odubu, Edo State deputy governor, who was one of the gubernatorial aspirants in the just concluded APC primaries, has come under attack by his supporters across the state for not challenging the APC primaries alongside Barr. Kenneth Imansuangbon and Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi.

A source privy to a meeting held by all his coordinators across the state told Independent that all attempts by the Edo State number two man to pacify his supporters to show understanding in the circumstance fell on deaf ears as they vowed that unless the primaries was thoroughly investigated and justice done, they would have difficulties accepting the results particularly as it had become public knowledge that the primaries were manipulated to favour Godwin Obaseki.

It was also learnt that the shabby behaviour with which Obaseki group had conducted themselves since the primaries does not show that they will need those who did not support the aspiration of Obaseki, citing the divisive attitude displayed by them during the ongoing Continuous Voters’ Registration.

From available information, it is clear that the Odubu’s camp which has remained silent since after the primaries may not be taken for granted unless something is done in the ongoing investigation by the appeals committee as a lot of them feel that the results did not reflect the wishes of the delegates.

Dr. Odubu maybe at a crossroads at the moment as his efforts to convince his followers may not yield the desired results ahead of the September 10 governorship election in Edo State.
