NIGERIA’S President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari,  has directed the security personnel attached to his convoy to always obey traffic regulations.

He also ordered them to always stop whenever they are stopped by the traffic lights.

Buhari, who gave the order on Wednesday May 6 in Abuja, maintained that as a democrat, he is subject to the Rule of Law, even as he assured that his administration would not fail Nigerians.

The President-elect, who spoke when a delegation from Taraba State paid him a courtesy visit, reassured that by the time he ends office in 2019, Nigerians would be confident of a society where elections would be free, fair and credible.

Buhari was reacting to the complain by the leader of the delegation and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Taraba State, Aisha Alhassan, that she was robbed of victory at the last gubernatorial election in the state.

Buhari encouraged Alhassan to have faith in the nation’s judicial system, having gone to the tribunal to challenge the outcome of the election, recalling that he had to go to the tribunal several times and even had to pursue his cast to the Supreme Court in the past elections.

“So, Aisha, don’t give up. You are younger and this is your first attempt. I contested three times and this is my fourth attempt.

“I hope that you succeed in court. I am impressed by the quality of Taraba people you brought here.”

Buhari stressed that he also believes that the multi party democratic system is the best form of governance, with a big caveat that election must be free and fair, hence his resort to the courts during his past attempts at democratic governance.
