President of the United States Barack Obama turned 55 on August 4, 2016, a few months to the end of his second term.

Obama’s presidency, which was a milestone in U.S. history and the world at large as the first Black POTUS, began with the country facing a recession after George W. Bush handed over a number of problems, including wars in the Middle East and a teetering auto industry in the U.S., among others, has gone through several ups and downs, Osama Bin Laden’s killing, same-sex marriage law being passed, Obamacare, and so on.

The 44th President of the United States has had more than a fair share of controversy; but he insists he brought the U.S. out of its worst financial crisis in decades.

He recently said, “Republicans refuse to admit that I fixed the economy after Bush wrecked it.”

Though in his mid-50s, as outgoing commander-in-chief, Obama has been more wistful as his final year in the White House draws to a close.

“It’s true, I was so young that first time in Boston,” he said last week, reflecting on the speech at the 2004 convention that helped launch his political rise.

“I had no gray hair when I was in your shoes seven years ago,” Obama told Canada’s boyish Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, then 43, during their first bilateral meeting last November. “You need to start dyeing it soon because it gets too late.”
