The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has condemned in its entirety the kidnap of famous Vanguard Columnist, Donu Kogbara and appealed to her abductors to release her immediately and unconditionally.

The union expressed disappointment at the security agencies for their inability to rescue the columnist after a week in captivity.

NUPENG wants the kidnappers to release Donu Kogbara unhurt as she was neither a politician nor a rich lady, but just a Journalist writing to make the society a better place to live in.

The Union advises the kidnappers to release Donu Kogbara without ransom and give respect for womanhood.

Blaming the security apparatus in Rivers State for not been pro-active in responding fast to track the kidnappers and victim, the union called on the Police, the DSS, Navy and the Intelligence Agency to spread their dragnet in order to secure her release unconditionally.

NUPENG was also worried and concerned about the security challenges in Okrika, Rivers State and called on the Wike led Administration in Rivers State, the JTF, Police, and DSS to arrest the current security challenge in Okrika land in Rivers State.

It stated that Okrika has had enough of violence, bloodshed and needs peace and decorum, so that the economic activities in the area can thrive again.

The Union enjoins the law enforcement agencies in Rivers State to stand up and live to their billings in protecting lives and property in Rivers State.
