NSE Index Sustains Positive Momentum, Up 0.30%

LAGOS – Trading on the floor of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) extended its positive run on Thursday when the overall performance measures, the All Share Index and market capitalisation, both appreciated by 0.30 percent each.

The All Share Index appreciated by 83.27 basis points or 0.30 percent to close at 27,725.40 points as against 27,642.13 points recorded on Wednesday, while market capitalisation appreciated by N28.602 billion to close at N9.523 trillion as against N9.495 trillion recorded at the last trading day.

Petroleum marketer, Total Nigeria, led the gainers’ table when it grabbed 892 kobo to close at N250.00 per share, followed by Seplat Petroleum Development Company which recovered 500 kobo to close trading at N325.00 per share.  Unilever Nigeria gained 287 kobo to close at N45.15 per share; Conoil nicked 268 kobo to close at 28.89 per share while building materials’ Dangote Cement  added 149 kobo to close at N176.00 per share,  among others.

Guaranty Trust Bank led the decliners’ table when it lost 50 kobo to close at N26.50 per share, UACN Property Development Company depreciated by 10 kobo to close at N3.40 per share, Neimeth also went down by 10kobo to close at N1.08 per share, Champion Breweries dropped 8 kobo to close at NM2.47 per share, while United Bank for Africa shed 7 kobo to close at N4.21 per share, among others.

First City Monument Bank emerged the most traded equity on Thursday with an exchange of 49.380 million shares worth N49.3836 million.  It was trailed by Access Bank having accounted for 23.490. million shares valued at N130.696 million, while NEM Insurance  sold 17.116 million shares worth N13.695 million.

Fidelity Bank exchanged 12.556 million shares valued at N11.093 million while Transnational Corporation traded 11.931 million shares worth N13.036 million.
