NSE Index Sustains Bullish Run, Up 0.18%

LAGOS – Trading on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) extended its positive movement on Thursday when the overall performance measures, the All Share Index and Market Capitalisation appreciated by 0.18 percent each.

The All Share Index appreciated by 51.47 basis points or 0.18 percent to close at 27,574.09 points as against 27,522.62 points recorded on Wednesday, while Market capitalisation closed at N9.471 trillion after it grabbed N17.682 billion as against N9.454 trillion recorded the previous trading day.

Food products-diversified major player, Nestle Nigeria, sat atop the gainers’ table on Thursday when it gained 499 kobo to close at N830.00 per share, followed by Seplat Petroleum Development Company which grabbed 480 kobo to close at N325.00 per share.

7UP Bottling Company nicked 234 kobo to close at N140.00 per share; Nigerian Breweries appreciated by 230 kobo to close at N142.50 per share while Conoil, which offered its shareholders a dividend of 300 kobo per ordinary share of 50 kobo each in its full year 2015 financial result released on Thursday added 102 kobo top close trading at N21.59 per share, among others.

Construction giant, Julius Berger Nigeria, led the decliners when it depreciated by 425 kobo to close at N39.44 per share, followed by Flour Mills of Nigeria, which slipped by 71 kobo to close at N19.04 per share. United Bank for Africa went down by 19 kobo to close at N4.40 per share as Ecobank Transnational Incorporated dropped 16 kobo to close at N11.50 per share while Caverton Group shed 12 kobo to close at N1.21 per share, among others.

United Bank for Africa emerged the most traded equity on Thursday with an exchange of 66.989 million shares worth N302.434 million.

Skye Bank having accounted for 33.259 million shares valued at N21 trailed it. 934 million while by FBN Holdings sold 24.040 million shares worth N74.121 million; Diamond Bank exchanged 22.722 million shares valued at N27.407 million while Fidelity Bank traded 13.654 million shares worth N12.389 million.
