The National Sports Commission (NSC) is seeking an out of court settlement in the rift between the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and its former employee, Super Eagles Head Coach Stephen Keshi.

Keshi had last week threatened a N1billion suit against the NFF over wrongful dismissal and defamation of character.

The NSC had requested formal explanations from the NFF, after Keshi copied it.

NSC Director General, Alhassan Yakmut, on Tuesday said that the Sports Commission would not allow the matter to go to the open court, and advocated Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism for resolution of the dispute.

“I have asked the NFF if they have seen the letter from Keshi, and they say they are aware. So it is left for the architects of that contract and Keshi to ensure that no provision of that contract is violated.”

Yakmut said that immediate concern of the Commission was to an amicable resolution of the crisis, adding that he had asked the NFF to seek ADR, which he said was the most reliable and dependable way to resolve dispute of this nature.

He said that the issues at stake involves sports stakeholders, and described them as members of the same family, stressing that he would not fold his arms and watch family matter go to the open court.
