Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) has shifted the camping of players due to attend the All Africa Games, pre-Olympic qualifiers, following non-arrival of the invited foreign-based players.

The camping was originally scheduled to hold on May 27 but had to be postponed to May 29.

Tunji Fasimoye, the Technical Director of NRFF told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Wednesday that inability of the foreign-based players to arrive in the country as well as the energy crisis in the country led to the postponement.

He also said that some of the home-based players had difficulties in securing flights from their bases to Lagos.

“The energy crisis has hindered most of our players from getting into the country, and we thought it necessary to shift the camping for a few days.

“We will resume the camping at the Main Bowl of the National Stadium, hopefully on May 29.

“We expect them to be in the country latest by May 28, and when they arrive, they will also need to rest before they start training’’.

Fasimoye, also NRFF Vice-president said that training would commence from 2p.m to 6p.m daily.

Three foreign-based players that had been invited by NRFF are Ike Onwukanjo of UB, U.S., Danjuma Mshiela of Richmond of U.K., and Temitope Okenla of Gravesend, U.K.

The qualifier is scheduled for June 6 in Lome, Togo.
