Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leader, Rangers International of Enugu, is not prepared to relinquish the top of the table position when it plays Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) in their midweek game at Agege on Wednesday.
Consequently, the club is determined to secure the three points at stake, even as MFM is desirous to upstage the league leaders.
Imama Amapakabo, Rangers Technical Adviser, made it known that Rangers mission in Lagos was to secure victory at all cost, so as to consolidate its position.
He said that with just nine games played, Rangers would strive to ensure that it maintained its position at the top of the league.
He promised to secure its first away victory in the season, saying that winning the league entails victory away and worst of all a draw away.
Despite agreeing that the league is tough, he plans to win all home and away games.
Rangers tops the league with 17 points from nine. MFM is placed 6th with 15 points.
Meanwhile, Fidelis Ilechukwu, MFM FC coach, believes the teams first-ever triumph in the Lagos Federation Cup will spur them on when they play Rangers.
MFM dumped Bridge FC of Lagos 4-0 courtesy of two goals from Sikiru Olatunbosun, a goal each from Onuwa Chukwuka and Captain Kennedium Nelson to win the 2016 Lagos Federation Cup.
“I believe this victory will motivate us going into our next league match against Enugu Rangers this Wednesday,” said an elated Ilechuckwu
“I’m very, very happy for winning this trophy we’ve been targeting for years, thank God we won it at last. ?
“My players did so well and played according to our plan. I’m very proud of them because this F.A Cup means a lot to me. I want to say kudos to them for a job well done.”
