NPA Donates Classrooms To Kebbi School

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) at the weekend handed over a block of three classrooms, toilets and an office it constructed at Gwandu Emirate Development Association Academy, Birnin Kebbi.

Alhaji Buhari Shema, a Personal Assistant to the NPA Managing Director, who was represented by Alhaji Abubakar Umar, said the gesture was part of the authority’s corporate social responsibility.

Shema promised to provide the academy with teaching and learning materials, urging parents and community leaders to ensure the enrolment of children in schools.

He recalled that the NPA had provided relief materials to flood victims in the state in 2013.

“The NPA has introduced a health sector assistance that will allow the authority to provide a fully equipped hospital to the state.

“The staff that will be deployed to the centre will be trained in collaboration with foreign health specialists to promote health care delivery in the state,’’ he said.

The Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Bashar, commended the authority for supporting the development of the education sector.

“The acquisition of knowledge is an important weapon that parents can provide to their children in addition to proper teaching on morality and good character for the benefit of society,’’ Bashar said.

The emir called on well-to-do individuals to contribute to the development of the academy to enable the poor obtain education for the betterment of the society.
