Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson on Friday boasted that the Peoples Democratic Party in the state was not under any threat from any opposition political party.

He said the PDP under his leadership would not cave in to the pressure being mounted on it by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dickson spoke at the state government’s income and expenditure briefing for the months of March and April, 2015, at the Banquet Hall of Government House in Yenagoa.

He was, again, reacting to the gale of defections to the APC by members of the PDP in the state which began on May 14 with the defection of Senator Clever Ikisikpo (Bayelsa East), House of Representatives member, Nadu Kairbo (Ogbia Federal Constituency) and over eight others.

He said, “There is no threat to PDP in this state. There is no threat to PDP in this state under my leadership.

“PDP in Bayelsa is a party that has three senators, five members of the House of Representatives and 20 out of the 22 seats in the result of House of Assembly elections declared.

“We can demonstrate that the PDP in the state is unshakable. We will win the two seats for which elections were declared inconclusive when the election is conducted”.

Dickson derided the PDP defectors and those who are planning to jump ship in order to secure appointments, saying “disappointment will be their portion”.

He warned that he was prepared to slug it out with his detractors, accusing them of holding clandestine meetings with a view to deny him re-election.

The governor insisted that the days when party members hid under the shadow of party elders to carry out political rascality and indiscipline were over.

“The state under me will remain PDP by the grace of God. People must learn to be disciplined. The way we do things here in PDP will also change. The days people hide under elders and do things any how are over”, he said.
