*Onazi calls for patience

Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has declared that no player has a permanent shirt in the current national team. Speaking after the 2-0 defeat of Swaziland in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Oliseh said all the players have equal opportunity to fight for a starting role in the team.

Speaking on the backdrop of playing Sunshine Stars midfielder, Paul Onobi, ahead of Chelsea midfielder, Mikel Obi, the coach said everyone had his peculiar trait in the team.

“When I was appointed as the coach of the team, I made it clear that I don’t care where you played, as long as you can give me what I wanted, then you in my team,” the coach said.

“Onobi did not play at the expense of anybody, he came to play his own game and I was very happy for him.

He is very hungry for success and that is what I need in a player, but I want to make it clear that nobody is replacing anyone.” Onobi was one of the star players of the team that defeated Swaziland, controlling the midfield alongside Ogenyi Onazi in the absence of Mikel.

Meanwhile, midfielder, Onazi, has appealed to Nigerian fans to be patient with the Eagles as they continue to work hard to qualify for the 2017 AFCON and 2018 World Cup.

The Lazio midfielder said with time, the team would be the pride of Nigerians. “I want the fans to know that we (the players) made a lot of sacrifices to represent the country,” Onazi said. “We pass through a lot before playing a match and sometimes the fans only see the game and not what happened before the game.

“I want people to know that we know what we are doing, likewise the coach. This is a very young team with a lot of potentials, and with patience, the team will be the pride of the country.”
