National Chairman of the  National  Conscience  Party (NCP), Tanko  Yunusa on  Wednesday said  no one can decide for Senate  President, Bukola  Saraki  if he should resign  from his position.

The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation is prosecuting Saraki for alleged false declaration of his assets at the Code of Conduct Bureau.

The former Kwara state governor had, last Tuesday, stepped into the dock at the Code of Conduct Tribunal  in Abuja, where he was arraigned for false assets declaration charges. He pleaded not guilty to all the 13 charges slammed on him by the CCB and his trial has been scheduled to hold on October 21, 22 and 23.

Also , 84 senators on Tuesday passed  a vote of confidence on Saraki despite calls by some Nigerians  that he should resign on moral grounds.

But according to Yunusa who spoke  in a chat with Daily Independent “ I for one, I am not an advocate. If things are being done correctly, if he has done something he thinks he cannot continue, then he can decide on his own, but if we are trying to intimidate each other because of perceived positions, then it becomes another issue entirely”.

“ So in my own advice, he will be the one that will know where his strengths are and his weaknesses are for him to really decide on whether to resign or to continue, but it has reached a fever point now that the situation is so heated up that it is affecting different strata of governance including state, so it is not a good situation as it were to be candid” he said.
