Olorunfunmi Basorun, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state has frowned at the call by some Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buharis should reshuffle his cabinet.
Basorun in an interview with Independent reminded those making the request that the country it is only in few cases that the country ever appointed engineers as ministers of works.
He said,  “Now they are calling some ministers unfit. How many times have we appointed engineers as minister for works in the country”?
He cited the example of Alhaji Lateef Jakande, former governor of Lagos State who appointed a non-engineer as Commissioner for Works and performed very well.
“During the era of Lateef Jakande as governor of Lagos State, the commissioner for works Mr. Coker was not an engineer”.
Basorun who defended the appointment of Babatunde Fashola as Minister of Works, Power and Housing further stated that the man has justified his appointment by his performance so far.
“ Some people criticised the three ministries allocated to Fashola by the President, but he has defended himself that he is a supervisor.
He  has also  has been doing well as we have been seeing light for 18 hours of the day.”
