Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has reminded public office holders and contractors that it is not going to be business as usual in the state.

This is because they owe Nigerlites the duty to work for their salaries or projects which they are paid for.

The Governor said the state government cannot afford to pay salaries and other allowances to civil servants who are not willing to sit up and work for the money they are paid from tax payers’ money, he, therefore, cautioned that they “do what is right or get fired”.

Reacting to the shabby execution of jobs by some contractors when he inspected on-going work at the Mamman Kontagora building materials’ market, Bello told the stakeholders that, coming on the “platform of change’, all must be prepared to brace up with a clear departure from how things were done in the past to working and accounting for every money they are paid.

The Governor expressed displeasure over the poor standard of work executed therein, including lack of sign-posts and then directed immediate erection of sign-posts to guide customers and visitors to the market on where to locate the various items sold there.
