Former Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu, has played down the dust generated by the alleged application for the vacant national team coaching job of Elephants of Cote d’ Ivoire by Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi.

He said in an interview that there was nothing big about Keshi or any other coach applying for a new job.

Chukwu said that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was making issues where none exist. Chukwu blamed the football house for escalating the Ivorien job issue, saying such issues should have been settled in-house.

“There is nothing big about Keshi applying for another job. If he did, they should have called him inside and ask why he should do that when he still has a contract with them

“The setting up of a committee was very wrong. How can NFF allow this issue to be a public one? I had expected them to call Keshi secretly and settle whatever problem that could come up as a result of that.”

The former Rangers captain also faulted the football house on Enyeama, saying summoning and querying the goalkeeper over his Kaduna comment does not hold water.

“That is the same thing I am talking about. How can they set up a committee over Enyeama? Now that he refused to honour their invitation, what will they do? That will not stop him from continuing playing for his club in France.

“All these are trivial issues that should not be taking serious. Look at the issue of Onazi, how can they fine him $5,000 when he was already issued a red card?

“The NFF is just making issues over all these things. If they have any grievances against these players, they should have called them secretly and settle them.”
