Warri – Mr. Deji Haastrup, General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Relations, Chevron Nigeria limited (CNL), has donated a 60KVA generating set and a Surgical Theatre/Consulting rooms to the Ekpan General Hospital in Uvwie council area of Delta State in fulfillment of the corporate social responsibility to host communities, even as he assured of Chevrons’ commitment to investing in projects that would add value to their lives.

Mr. Haastrup who represented Mr. Andrew Fawthrop, Chairman and Managing Director (CNL), gave the donation and assurance at the ground breaking ceremony of the Ekpan General Hospital Surgical/Consultation room project donated by Chevron on behalf of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company/Chevron Joint Venture.

While thanking the Delta State Government, the traditional ruler and the people of the Ekpan community for making the ceremony a success, Haastrup said the project was in line with Chevrons commitment to contribute to governments’ programme to raise the quality of health care of the people of Delta State.

“At Chevron, we take our social corporate responsibility seriously. Everywhere we operate across the world, we always try our best to be a welcome member of the community. We try to forge partnership that supports economic and social development of the people.

“Let me assure that the NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture will continue to extend the frontier of our partnership in Ekpan community and the institutions in the state to support programmes in our immediate environment.

“This project would improve the lives of the people and empower young Nigerians in the development of the country. I wish to congratulate the people of Ekpan community for playing a crucial role in this important project. It is my hope that both the surgical room and the consultation rooms when completed would serve the best needs of the community,” he stated.

Speaking at the ceremony Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the Delta State Governor, represented by Dr. Nicholas Azinge, the Health Commissioner, appealed to youths in the community to provide the enabling environment of peace and ensure that the projects are completed in record time.

He said that the state government was committed to partnering with corporate organisations and other private individuals in its quest to ensure prosperity for all Deltans and thanked Chevron for contributing and assisting the state government in ensuring that quality health care delivery is provided for the people.

“This project when completed will reduce some of the challenges already being faced by the General Hospital, Ekpan. It will in no small way decongest the surgical services at Central Hospital, Warri, and we give kudos to Chevron and NNPC.
