The Nigeria Liquefied and Natural Gas (NLNG) has donated two Toyota Hilux Trucks to National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in a move to help ameliorate the operational hardship experienced by the Agency particularly in the hinterlands.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, Mr Babs Omotowa who made the donation to the Director General of NAFDAC, Dr Paul Orhii in Abuja said the gesture was part of collaboration between the two organizations and the company’s modest support to the tremendous work being done by NAFDAC in safeguarding the health and economy of the nation.

He commended the efforts of Dr Orhii and his team in revolutionizing the fight against counterfeiting with the use of cutting-edge technologies which has reduced the incidence of counterfeit medicines and positioned the agency as one of the global leaders in modern regulation.

Receiving the donation, Dr Orhii lauded the generosity and support of the company saying the gesture will go a long way in strengthening the activities of the agency across the country.

He promised to sustain and expand on the existing collaboration with the company as well as other stakeholders to broaden the fight against counterfeit regulated products.

Speaking further, Dr Orhii hinted that the Agency plans to deploy mobile laboratories to check rising cases of contamination of the nation’s agricultural products which have been banned temporarily by European Union and rejected at the international market.

The NAFDAC boss called for support and collaboration by relevant stakeholders to work towards reversing this ugly trend and warned that if urgent steps are not taken, it will affect the nation’s efforts at diversifying the economy.
