Ogun State Chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has decried the unpaid contributory pension deductions for five years and other
backlog of arrears in the state.

The National Treasurer of the union who also doubles as the Chairman of the Workers’ Union in the State, Comrade Akeem Ambali, while addressing a press conference yesterday at the Secretariat of the Union, said workers in the state were becoming restless, agitated and fast losing hope of survival in the state.

The Chairman who acknowledged the dwindling allocation from the federation account said it was time to call on the state government to do the needful towards a better welfare of the workers in the state.

According to him, pension deductions, cooperative deductions, gratuities, check off dues and a host of others have not been remitted to the appropriate quarters in almost one year.

Comrade Ambali who thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the recent
bail out approved by his administration, however, warned state governors not to divert the fund to settle other debts.

The Chairman explained that the bailout would only be a bonus to Ogun State government since the Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, had
expressed capacity to pay the deductions before the end of the month.
