The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) has reduced the rate for domain name registration to as low as N500 as part of its “adopt the .ng crusade”.

Sunday Folayan, President of NiRA stated this recently when he led his team to a strategic meeting with One Africa Media, the operators of Africa’s largest portfolio of online marketplaces, focusing on Jobs, Cars, Property and Travel.

Speaking on the visit, Folayan said that One Africa Media is a strategic partner for promoting the .ng brand, online business, wealth creation and youth employment across the country.

“They Serve markets with over 400 million Africans, operate in the world’s fastest growing economies and Internet markets, while connecting buyers, sellers, employers and jobseekers.  Definitely with its large database and outreach, “One Africa Media” is a strategic partner for promoting the .ng brand, online business, wealth creation and youth employment

“These hard working folks own one of Africa’s most popular job search marketplace, “Jobberman”, the largest African car classified marketplace, “Cheki” and “Private Property Nigeria”, a platform to advertise, sell, buy or rent properties online,” he said.

While both ‘Cheki.com.ng and ‘privateproperty.com.ng’ are .ng compliant. NIRA were assured that job search marketplace, Jobberman would soon be .ng compliant as internal discussions had already commenced before the visit.

“Other issues of importance to NIRA, apart from Jobberman using their .ng domain name, is the adoption of the.name.ng domain string as the online identity of Nigerian’s, with the aim of fostering relationships between the jobseekers and the employers.

Also, the NiRA President noted that: “I encourage as many stakeholders to join us on this important campaign. NIRA will be happy to share on our social media platforms, your success stories based on the use of the .ng brand. If you also know a successful business that promotes the .ng brand, drop us a note.
