The Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sanni Usman, said on Monday, August 3, 2015, that Nigerian troops have captured a Boko Haram commander alive in Borno State. He has been taken into custody and is undergoing interrogation.

He was arrested in a raid on terrorist hideouts and camps in the state, as part of the ongoing push to rid the region of the Islamist militants.

The operation, comprising a unit of the 7 Division and the 21 Brigade, around Aulari in Bama axis, as well as Fadan, Shuwarin, Wulari, Ngoro Dauye and Jidori, among others, also led to the rescue of 178 people from the custody of the terrorists.

In a telephone interview with Channels Television on Monday morning, said, “Nigerian military is working tremendously to ensure that the number of suicide bombings is reduced in the country.

“What I am trying to say is that apart from the Nigerian Army, other agencies are doing the best they could to ensure that the fight against terrorism and insurgency in any form is successful,” he said.
