Niger State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olusola Amore, has challenged officers and men of the command on the need to protect property belonging to the command, particularly facilities meant for their physical fitness.

The commissioner made the call shortly after commissioning the gymnasium built by senior officers of the command in conjunction with other stakeholders for the purpose o.where officers and other interested members of the public can use to maintain physical fitness.

Amore told the gathering during the commissioning that the state police command has plans to make it mandatory for all who use the facility, including members of sister security agencies in the state to be registered with the Police Officers Mess, Minna.

As part of measures to ensure durability of the facilities, the commissioner appealed to the officers and men of the command and other sister agencies to guard against misuse and damage of the gymnasium.

Meanwhile the police in Niger State have confirmed the rescue of the younger brother to the state’s Deputy Governor, Yakubu Ibeto, who was kidnapped at a gun point at his house at Ibeto town, Magama Local Council area last weekend.

State police commissioner confirmed this in Minna, explaining that Yakubu was abandoned by the kidnappers somewhere around Zuru-Wanta, some kilometers after Dabeh in Yauri Local Government of the neighbouring Kebbi State at about 3.00 a.m. without paying any ransom.
