Niger Delta Power Holding Company’s Former CEO Under Investigation

There are strong indications that James Olotu, former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), may be investigated over actions and deeds during his tenure in the agency, Independent has gathered.

Sources say the sudden dissolution of the management and the sack of James Olotu and other executive directors may have been triggered by reports of unaccountable activities within the company between 2013 and 2015.

While details of the probe are still sketchy, reports indicate that Olotu is under surveillance as operatives are digging into major contracts and payments during his tenure.

The Federal Government announced the dissolution of the executive management of NDPHC last week.

Notice of the dissolution was contained in a statement issued by Mr. Babachir Lawal, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) in Abuja.

Olotu was specifically directed to immediately handover to Mr. Chiedu Ugbo, who was appointed as acting Managing Director of the company.

According to the SGF, all executive directors of the company and the general manager, Audit, were to handover immediately to the most senior officers in their respective departments.

The Federal Government, however, appreciated the services of the disengaged officers during their tenure.
