Ahead of the September 10 governorship election in Edo State, an NGO, Coalition for Change and Development Foundation (CCDF), is organising a one day sensitisation programme aimed at engaging the youths for peaceful participation at the polls.

In a statement, Olanrewaju Oretoluwa, Executive Director, CCDF, said the sensitisation programme tagged ‘Edo Youth for Peaceful Election: Crusade Against Political Violence’ holds today at the Civic Centre, Benin City, with notable public figures and inspirational speakers billed to address the assembly of youths drawn from across political interest groups and platforms.

The statement indicates that the sensitisation programme will receive a keynote address from the representative of the Ooni of Ife, His Royal Highness Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

Other dignitaries expected to deliver goodwill messages at the event include Edo State police commissioner; director of DSS, Edo State; commandant, Civil Defence Corps in Edo State and the state resident electoral commissioner.

Representatives of youth groups and platforms across Edo State are expected to participate in the sensitisation programme aimed at facilitating peaceful political engagement and non-violent governorship for popular participation in good governance in Edo State.
