NFF Set To Name Foreign Coach For Eagles

Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, will get a foreign coach to steer the side to a successful run in the 2018 World Cup in a matter of weeks.

Amaju Pinnick, NFF president, disclosed this yesterday, stating that the federation has decided to appoint a foreign coach for the Eagles.

This comes on the heels of the team’s ouster from the qualification stage of the Africa Cup of Nations 2017 in Gabon after a loss to Egypt in Alexandria, the second consecutive time that Nigeria would be left out of the tournamnet, which is Africa’s biggest football showpiece.

There have been calls in some quarters for an expatriate coach, against the trend in recent times of employing nigerian coaches, who were mostly ex-footballers of the national team, including current handler, Samson Siasia.

“We’re going to get a foreign manager for the team,” Pinnick told newsmen, “And we are going to ensure that Nigeria qualify for the World Cup and do exceedingly well, too.

“We’ll make them utilise all FIFA windows to play quality friendly matches.

“There is nothing to worry about the payment of salary for the foreign manager. His wages are going to be taken care of by the private sector. We’ve concluded that and it will not cost government anything.”
