The disciplinary committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has upheld the decision of the League Management Company (LMC) to expel Giwa FC from the Nigeria premier league after failing to honour three matches this season.
The committee finds Giwa FC in breach of Rule B13.28 of the NPFL Frame Work and Rules which states that “ If a club fails to honour three matches cumulatively within the League season without an acceptable reason to the LMC such a club shall be expelled from the League and its matches played and unplayed shall be cancelled”.
However, Giwa FC, who failed to appear before the committee to state their own side of the matter, have 48 hours to appeal this decision.
Additionally, Giwa was fined N10 million for staying away from the league match against Enyimba without an acceptable reason.
They will pay Enyimba a million Naira to offset their expenses and another 650,000 Naira for the match officials.
Meanwhile, four players of expelled Giwa FC have been cleared to play for Kano Pillars in the second round of the Nigeria league, according to officials.
The players are Charles Henlong, Amos Gyang, Chris Madaki and goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo.
Henlong, Gyang and Madaki had agreed personal terms with Pillars before the start of this season, but could not join Pillars because they still had their contracts running at Giwa.
However, the expulsion of the club has released the players to Pillars on a free transfer.
Pillars have also signed striker Razaq Adegbite from Sunshine Stars, King Osanga from Warri Wolves as well as central defender Emman Ambrose from Kaduna United.
Eight players were also placed on transfer by Pillars.
