NDLEA Parades 11 Drug Suspects In Kaduna

Eleven suspected drug traffickers have been arrested and paraded by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) Kaduna State Command.

The Commandant of the Agency, Mr. Samuel Azige who briefed newsmen in Kaduna while parading the suspects said that the arrests were made at different locations in lgabi, Zaria, Sabon-Gari, Kaduna-North, Kaduna-South and check-points at the toll gate.

Mr. Azige said that the major notorious place is Mararaban-Jos along Zaria expressway and the trailer parks which were haven for criminals and drugs dealers had also been raided.

He said the agency had also arrested one person with fake dollars during a stop and search operation as he was coming from Ekiti State and that the suspect would be transferred to the Police for more investigation.

7Mr. Azige said that apart from the mandate given to the Agency by the Federal Government for the eradication of drug problems in the country, Kaduna State Government had also shown total commitment to the issue.

He said that the case file of the suspects had been forwarded to the legal officer, but that they were yet to be arraigned because the Courts would not be in sessions till September.

One of the suspects, Azubuike James, who had been arrested twice pleaded for mercy and promised that if released this time, he would not deal on drugs again.

He said that he was into drugs because his parents were late and he had nobody to help him in his musical career as he appealed to the Kaduna State Government to help him.

James said that he that had realised that he was gifted in music but he had no money to sponsor himself and regretted that those he met asked him to deposit about N150, 000.00 naira before they would help him.
