The deputy National Organizing Secretary, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Engr. Campbell Umehnzekwe, has said that Nigerians should hold the National Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) Chief John Odigie-Oyegun for the crisis in the National Assembly.

Umehnzekwe who spoke to Daily Independent in Lagos condemned Oyegun’s letter to National Assembly describing it as in bad faith.

“How can a democratic party be sending a letter directing the Senate President and Speaker who to chose as principal officers without election within their rules and procedure?” he asked.

He stated that Oyegun who emerged as the National Chairman of APC against Tom Ikimi appeared to be experienced in party politics, had the opportunity to settle the issue about National Assembly leadership before June 9, but abandoned the party to serve in Buhari’s transition committee.

He said: “Oyegun had enough time and opportunity to resolve the leadership of both Senate and House of Assembly before the inauguration of the 8th Assembly but abandoned the party structure and was deeply involved in Buhari’s transition committee.”

Umehnzekwe disclosed that with the present crisis in APC and the defeat of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last general elections, APGA remains a political party of people’s choice.

“APGA will rise to the challenge created by both APC and PDP and become a party that would attract people across the 36 states and Abuja,” he said.
