As a way of finding a lasting solution to the current leadership crisis in the House of Representatives, a federal lawmaker, Wole Diya on Tuesday said the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara should submit himself to the directives of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Diya, who is representing Somolu Federal Constituency in the Green chamber added that there is a need for the APC leadership to meet with the camps of Dogara and Femi Gbajabiamila so as to reach a common agreement in the leadership tussle that has polarized the  House.

The Lower chamber which ended its last sitting in a free-for-all had adjourned till Tuesday July 21, but had to postpone the date till July 28 to allow the lawmakers address knotty issues bordering on the leadership crisis so as to avoid another round of crisis.

Speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Diya who advocated the need for party supremacy said that the only viable solution is for the stakeholders to meet and iron out issues before the resumption of the House.

He said: “The two factions should come together and reach a common agreement.

“That is the only way out. It is all about give and take.  As a party man, I believe in party supremacy.

“The Speaker, Yakubu Dogara should submit to the directives of the party.

“Nobody got elected to the House on his efforts. We all came there on the platform of the party.

“If a candidate is being sued, it is the party that will be sued, not the candidate. The party will come first before the candidate.”
