The Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Lanre Tejuoso, has corroborated the statements by the President of the Senate and Speaker of of  the House of Representatives, Buukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara that NASS cannot be compelled to operate Treasury Single Account, TSA since it is not a revenue generating entity.

Tejuosho, who added that legislature by reason of its existence is not a revenue generating body or agency, stated there is no need for it to remit its statutory allocation to TSA.

The Senator made this known while speaking on the sideline with the newsmen at an empowerment programme organized by him for the people of Ogun Central Senatorial District, held in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.

He, however, said the NASS was in support of TSA saying any government agency or parastatal generating income for the country must remit it to the TSA.

He said “I believe TSA is for institutions and parastatals that generate income. When you make money it must go to the government coffers. The NASS does not make money.

“Once their budget has been determined, to determine how much to be spent for whole year, they just spend the money. I think it is a little misunderstanding in terms of nomenclature. Any entity that is making money for Nigeria must operate TSA.

“If NASS is doing anything that can make money for Nigeria, it can go to TSA.”

Over a hundred persons benefited from the empowerment programme which included N50, 000 each for 94 individuals and nine cars for his coordinators in the six local governments that make up Ogun Central
