Nasarawa Police Command Parade 24 Robbery Suspects

The Nasarawa State Police Command on Monday, July 11, 2016, paraded 24 persons suspected of various crimes in the state.

Shehu Lawal Batsari, Commissioner of Police, said that the suspects were arrested for different criminal offences committed cut across the state.

He said, “A case of culpable homicide and kidnapping was reported at Toto divisional police, where unknown gunmen ambushed a Tongyi Allied Company vehicle with three occupants, one Pan Yu, a Chinese national, a driver and one Corporal Emmanuel Solomon, of 38 PMF Akwanga, was on special duty at the said company.

“It was shot at a spot on their way from Nasarawa to Abuja and his AK-47 rifle with 30 rounds of live ammunition was taken. They also abducted, Pan Yu, the Chinese national aged 32 years, to an unknown destination.”

Among the suspects is a notorious robbery gang terrorizing Akwanga areas, whose members were arrested while carrying out their nefarious activities in the town and its environs.

Batsari said, “They had succeeded in robbing Mrs. Veronica Albert, Edwin Omeke and Mrs. Esther Ibreana all of Angwan Ali, along Lafia Road, where they carted away two laptops, one generator, one motorcycle, cash of N200,000.00 and handsets.”

Also paraded was one Anya Onoh, 32, an Alago by tribe, suspected to have conspired with others at large to rob and kill one Pastor Zakaria of ECWA Church, Obi Local Government Council.

The police commissioner said that his men, in collaboration with its counterpart from Ebonyi State, also nabbed two suspects who snatched a Sienna mini-van at gunpoint from Mrs. Ogun Yemi Obiageli a resident New Karu, Nasarawa State.

He called for cooperation with security operatives by giving information as police are ready to rid the state of criminals.
