Emeka Okafor Aba

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has defended the N10 billion Loan recently approved by the State House of Assembly, saying that the loan from the Central Bank would facilitate the actualization of his Aba Renewal and other projects.

Speaking at a media briefing for Journalists in the state, Governor Ikpeazu disclosed that he would never go back in his resolve to make Aba a one stop point in commerce and industry in the country.

“The N14 billion bailout is a separate fund; we have asked the House to approve N10 billion Infrastructural loan from the CBN.  If we get it, we will use it for the construction of a Fly-Over in Aba and other infrastructural projects,” he said.

According to Governor Ikpeazu, his administration had, in the last hundred days in office, put in place the expected machinery in regard to his first hundred day circle work plan.

“I did some assessment of what I thought is the magnitude of work to be done in Aba; what I have seen on ground was far from what we had in mind,” he explained.

On the Bailout Fund, Governor Ikpeazu revealed that the state government had formally received the bailout fund from the CBN and maintained that the fund would be used for the purpose for which it was approved by the CBN.
