Godwin Obaseki, All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, on Monday expressed confidence that his manifesto to Edo people will be translated into reality when elected governor of the state.

Obaseki, who spoke at a town hall meeting with elders of Iyekogba community in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, said, “As we all know eight years ago, nobody believed that government can work in Edo because we have always heard Edo is a civil service state and that we are poor but since the last eight years, our leader comrade Oshiomhole has proved it wrong. We can no longer remember what this road used to be like before the APC came.

“What has happened here in Edo is that for many years people have govern this state to the benefit of themselves.

“For us, what the government has not done is much more than the ones that have been done but the important thing is that government has started and as Edo people we can’t do anything to stop that progress. We need to continue on the progress we have made because there are so many things we have not done.

“In the Oshiomhole government, we have not reached our desired places but if we don’t continue how are we going to do it? So the choice is, is it better to continue and bring development or get angry and give votes to people who took us to Egypt?

“My appeal is support me; work with me to be the next governor of Edo State so that we can design a development plan for Iyekogba because Iyekogba is the remaining virgin area left in the metropolitan Benin City.

“My appeal is that I am your own, I will listen to you, send me on an errand and see if I will not deliver and I believe I will not disappoint you.”

Obaseki also promised to distribute evenly appointment to the people as well as utilise resources in the area to the development and benefit of the people.

On his part, HRH Anthony Osagie,  Enogie of Umegbe, who spoke on behalf of four other Enigie including, HRH, Jackson Igbinoghore, the Enogie of Uholo, HRH Godwin Aigbe, the Enogie of Evboyoba and HRH Eghosa Aiwansoba, the Enogie of Evbovbiuke noted that the APC has transformed the area but however appealed for more to be done especially in the area of roads which according to them will facilitate business activities.

The monarch who doubles as the President of Iyekogba Elders council extolled Governor Adams Oshiomhole for his speedy response to the plight of the communities and entered into a social contract with the APC candidate.
