The fight against the Boko Haram Islamic sect has taken a new dimension with the resolve of the Multi-national Joint Task Force (MNJTF) to intensify efforts and support Nigeria to ensure the sect is flushed out of the region for good.

The MNJTF is a formation comprising units of the Chadian, Nigerien and Nigerian armed forces.

Abdullahi promised that the MNJTF would continue to support the Nigerian Army in the discharge of its duties, stressing “the operations of the Multi-national Joint Task Force will be aimed at supporting the Nigerian Army with a view to bringing the insurgency to an end.

Abdullahi congratulated the COAS on his appointment and expressed optimism that the security challenges facing Nigeria would soon be a thing of the past.

He commended the Nigerian Army’s efforts in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the North-East, reiterating the need for the Army in particular and the nation in general to fulfil obligations toward ending the menace.

Before his appointment as COAS, Buratai was the commander of the MNJTF, while the secretary was the head of mission.

On his part, Buratai commended Abdullahi for his support and cooperation during his stint as commander of the MNJTF.
