Most clergymen usually keep their passions for sports, clubs and other sports personalities’ private, but for the New Estate Baptist Pastor, Rev. Amos Kunat, there’s nothing secret in expressing ones passion for anything under the earth provided it’s legal and mutual beneficial.

The former goalkeeper in his university days has great passion for Chelsea football Club, especially for the club’s manager, Jose Mourinho for his consistency on the job.

Rev. Amos Kunat love for the North London club spanned through many years and would do nothing to eject the club from his mind.

“I love Chelsea and reasons being that the club is strong and consistent in its achievement over the years. Watching the club play with other clubs brings a lot of things home to me. Some of them are determination to win, strength to sustain victory and adaptation to coach’s instruction.”

These are things one could learn and easily adapt in his life and make huge success of it.

Chelsea as a club cannot do well without a manager who knows his job and this brings Mourinho to mind as a coach that had remained consistent in all the clubs he had the opportunity to coach no matter the situation on the field of play.

He however pointed out that Chelsea would need a stronger back line players if they must do well next season. “I noticed that the club’s defense line is getting weak because John Tery and others are getting old and would need help. I may not be right, but this is my opinion.”

Rev. Kunat was ecstatic that Chelsea won the English Premier League this season, “From the start I know Chelsea would win the League, I’m happy it finally came to pass.

According to Rev. Kunat, sports bring its own joy and happiness to human lives and had afforded talented people the opportunity to earn a living. Footballers athletes and others are clear examples.

As former athlete, he noted that when one engages in sports with the whole mind, results are easily achieved, that is why sports is related to the services humans offer to God Almighty on earth. “Without giving your all in the service of God on earth, there would be no result. For instance, if athletes don’t train, there would be no success. In every life endeavour, there must be preparation and determination to win, outside that, results would be hard to achieve.

The clergy who witnessed the New Estate Baptist Church inter-house sports held recently in Lagos said that the church was interested in both academic and moral benefits pupils could get from sporting activities, noting that the Church strongly supports students’ participation in sporting activities for its association, interaction and relationship values.

The human brain was fashioned in such a wonderful way that it could accommodate many things like sports, academic and other life endeavours.

He insisted that Children are permitted to engage in sporting activities to broaden their mental horizon with its attendant physical benefits to the human body.

Rev. Kunat however said that talents discovered from the Inter-house sports are not wasted, according to him, Ministry of education is always involved in monitoring all sports activities and talent discovered are managed in such a way they are groomed for future glory of their schools and the nation.
