An Ilorin Magistrates’ Court has remanded a 37-year-old motor dealer, Ibrahim Adedoyin, in prison over alleged breach of trust.

Magistrate Jubril Salihu ordered that the accused should be kept behind bars at Oke-kura Prison Yard, Ilorin, pending conclusion of investigations.

The accused, whose address is unknown, is facing a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Godwin Azua, had told the court that the suspect collected a Honda Accord saloon car with registration no. CW 630 JJJ valued at N400,000 from the complainant, Adeleke Isaac.

Azua said the accused collected the car with part payment of N85,000 sometime in September 2014 and promised to sell it to buy a Honda Baby Boy car for the complainant.

“The accused, after selling the car, refused to purchase the car or refund the money to the complainant.

“The accused was arrested and later jumped police bail until he was re-arrested and charged to court.’’

The offences, Azua said, contravened Sections 312 and 320 of the Penal Code, Laws of the Federation.

He urged the court to remand the accused in prison custody pending the conclusion of investigation by the police.

The case was then adjourned to June 17 for mention.
