Sunshine Stars of Akure has fined Super Eagles defender, Kunle Odunlami, the sum of N2.5 million for his trip to Morocco for pre-contract formalities with Raja Casablanca even as the ban placed on him has been lifted.

The 25-year-old defender abandoned his side in Asaba, Delta State on their way to Enugu for a Nigeria Professional Football League Week 14 encounter against Rangers before embarking on a trip to the North African nation to undergo medical examinations with the Green Devils.

Media officer of the club, Wahab Bankole revealed that the former First Bank player has been forgiven as the decision would enable him seal the deal with the Botola Pro outfit.

“Odunlami has been pardoned by the club management after he was slammed with an indefinite ban. The move was taken in a bid to rescue his football career though he has been asked to pay a fine of 2.5 million naira and is expected to pay before the next 60 days,” Bankole told Goal.

“He has been ordered to write an apology letter to the management and also to his colleagues for the embarrassment, pain and loss caused as a result of his actions which contributed to the defeat suffered in the hands of Rangers of Enugu.

“Also, Sunshine Stars have approved the recommendations of the disciplinary committee set up to look into the possible sanctions to be meted out to the player,” he concluded.

With this, the towering defender now stands a chance to seal his deal with Ruud Krol’s men and should the move be rubber-stamped, he will team up with compatriot Ighodaro Osaguona.
