But for the large crowd of commuters, motor-cycle riders as well as commuters at the state secretariat, three robbers would have disposed a businessman of his money at the popular Aroma junction, Friday afternoon.
The robbers had trailed the businessman simply identified as Chidi from the bank until he parked his car, a metallic sea blue Corolla car.
Immediately he disembarked from the car, one of the three robbers moved straight to the car and with a master key opened the car door and took the bag, a laptop like bag and headed to a Mercedes Benz car waiting for him.
When Chidi raised the alarm, the crowd around did not understand the seriousness of the incident until he began to struggle for the bag with the robber who made straight to the Mercedes Benz car.
However, Chidi continued to struggle for the bag and the robber feeling that he was attracting attention, threw the bag on the ground and instead of boarding to the Mercedes car, went down the state secretariat road and immediately joined a Toyota Camry car which was waiting for him and they zoomed off.
At the same time, the driver of the Mercedes Benz car the robber initially wanted to take did a U-turn at the junction and disappeared. Before the crown could understand what happened the three robbers had disappeared through different directions.
One of the onlookers, Mr. Tony Onyeisi said while the robbery attempt lasted, it never occurred to him that indeed robbery was going on.
He blamed Chidi for not raising the alarm in a manner passers-by would understand that he was being robbed.
He regretted that such robbery which reigned in the past seemed to be finding its way back. If he had raised the alarm seriously he believed, police men on duty at Aroma junction would have arrested them.
