As the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies continued to receive and screen names of ministerial nominees sent by President Mohammadu Buhari, indication has emerged that intensive lobby and underground move had commenced among leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State to fill the state slot.

The race for the state ministerial slot, Daily Independent learnt, was at the weekend, became clear at a meeting held in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, where former deputy governor of Ondo state, Ali Olanusi met with governor Rauf Aregbesola and the former acting national chairman of APC, Bisi Akande to finalise the list for the South-West.

At the meeting, Olanusi, a member of Board of Trustees of the party, reportedly threw his weight behind the nomination of an Akure born industrialist, Roland Olumuyiwa Ogunleye in place of Pius Akinyelure, the South-West chairman of the party who was absent at the meeting.

The APC in Ondo state had, before the Osogbo meeting, conceded the state ministerial slot to the Central Senatorial District of the state, where both Ogunleye and Akinyelure hail from.

But, the leadership of the party was said to have favoured an Akure indigene to compensate the town where the party secured highest votes for President Buhari during the March 28 Presidential Election.

Ogunleye, a technocrat was also favoured above Akinyelure who is a politician, apparently in line with President Buhari preference of technocrat as minister over politicians.

The present of Ogunleye as a guest at the national conference of the United States of America (U.S.A) chapter of the APC in New York, last Saturday, confirmed his likely emergence as ministerial nominee for Ondo State.

According to a statement credited to the APC national organising secretary of U.S.A chapter, Ademola Adesanya, the conference was aimed at helping to transform Nigeria economy by formulating a solid policy gear towards assisting President Buhari to achieve the desire change.
