ONDO State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has appealed to the electorate in the state to vote for candidates of People Democratic Party (PDP) in the April 11 State Assembly poll.

He said this would allow him to have a comfortable majority in the incoming 8th Assembly in the state to maintain the peace and stability in government as been experienced in the last six years of his administration.

The governor made the appeal following the outcome of the March 28 Presidential and National Assembly poll where opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) swept two of the three Senate seats and five out of nine House of Representatives in the state.

Mimiko who was shocked by the results of the last poll, also lost the Presidential poll to APC with APC, 299,889 against his own Party, PDP, with 251,368 having promised to deliver one million votes to President Goodluck Jonathan.

However, the April 11 poll is very crucial to the governor hold on power since an Assembly controlled by opposition could send him out of government.

To make the matter worse, Mimiko’s deputy, Alli Olanusi defected to the APC two days to the Presidential poll, sending wrong signal of tough time for the governor in the incoming Assembly.

Governor Mimiko on Sunday, went on Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC), begging the people of the state to vote for candidates of PDP in the Assembly, citing peace and stability in his administration as condition.

He had earlier met with sections of civil servants and teachers in the state to beg for their votes and that of their immediate and extended families.

The governor however, congratulated General Muhammadu Buhari on his emergence as president-elect, even as he called for peaceful Easter celebration.
