MFM Returns To Top Of NPFL Table

 Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) Football Club has returned to the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table with a comprehensive 3-1 win over El-Kanemi Warriors in Lagos on Sunday.

The league new boys took the lead on the 26th minute through Stephen Odey. The side added the second goal at the beginning of the second half through Julius Emiloju, who scored on the 47th minute.

The visitors, however, reduced the tally in the 57th minute before MFM completed the rout in the 75th minute.

With the result, the Olukoya Boys returned to the summit of the table having garnered 13 points from six matches following Rangers’ 2-2 draw in the oriental derby in Umuahia. Rangers now has 10 points from the same number of matches.

In other results, Giwa FC compounded the woes of winless Sunshine Star with a last gasp 1-0 victory in Jos. IfeanyiUba, with the full complement of their Brazilian imports, hammered Ikorodu United 4-I in Nnewi.

In the northern derby, Lobi Stars forced former champions, Kano Pillars, to a 2-2 draw in Makurdi. Niger Tornadoes survived Rivers United scare as the home side won 3-2 in Jos. Tornadoes led 3-0 before the Rivers side pulled two goals back to end the encounter 3-2.

Meanwhile, on Friday, at the Nest of Champions, Uyo, Akwa United defeated Plateau United 2-0.
