Chibuike Chukwu, LAGOS
It was almost similar fate for two Lagos clubs, as Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) lost 1-0 away to Warri Wolves and Ikorodu United drawing 0-0 at home to visiting Sunshine Stars of Akure.
Before the match, coach of Ikorodu, Sam Okpodu, has boasted that his side would come back from its poor form. The result leaves the Onikan Stadium landlords at the rear of the table with five points from 11 matches.
On the other hand, MFM has descended from the fifth to 11th position on the log on account of its loss to Wolves in Warri.
In other results, El-Kanemi Warriors, playing in Maiduguri for the first time in three years, defeated Shooting Stars 2-0. The match was watched by top state government officials.
In the local derby in Jos, Plateau United overcame Giwa, 2-1 while Heartland made its home advantage count by winning Rivers United 2-1.
In Uyo, Akwa United bounced back from its home loss to Abia Warriors to defeat Niger Tornadoes of Minna 2-0.
The match involving Abia Warriors and Lobi Stars in Umuahia was called off in the 55 minutes due to waterlogged pitch and will continue today at 10am.
On Saturday, it was oriental war, as Rangers defeated FC IfeanyiUba of Nnewi 1-0 in Enugu to regain leadership of the league after week 11.
With the result, Rangers remains on tope with IfeanyiUba trailing in second place. The position will change if Abia wins today, as it will displace IfeanyiUba with goal difference.
