Fideli Ilechukwu, coach of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has said his side deserves some respect from other clubs in the NPFL. Ilechukwu spoke ahead of his side’s trip to Port Harcourt against Rivers United. It will be recalled that the Lagos side defeated United 2-1 in the first stanza of the league in Lagos and has said his side deserve to be acknowledged as a force after completing a double over Nasarawa United.
In the first day of the current league campaign, MFM defeated Nasarawa United 1-0 in Lafia to formally announce their campaign in the top flight. In the reverse fixture last week, the Odukoya Boys recorded a 2-0 win over their northern opponents to complete the double. The MFM coach feels opponents must start showing the NPFL debutants some respect
Skillful winger, Olatunbosun Sikiru’s brace earned him the man of the match as his drive in the box put the Church Boys in front before an easy tap inside the six yard box courtesy of an effort from Isah Akor doubled their lead.
“It’s high time other clubs start to show respect to MFM FC. We may be debutants but our quality is never in doubt,” Illechukwu told Goal.
“When we won our first match in the NPFL away to Nasarawa United, a lot of pundits said categorically that it was a fluke but I’m happy that we have challenged well in the League and on Wednesday evening we defeated Nasarawa United over two legs.
“Now we are travelling to Port Harcourt for Rivers match. We are not perturbed as other clubs should by now start to respect us,” he said.
