LAGOS – Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Football Club continued its fine run at home in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as it thrashed Niger Tornadoes of Minna 2-0 on Monday to move to the eighth position on the log with 26 points.

The encounter was one of the Week 17 fixtures earlier billed for Sunday at the Agege Stadium, Lagos but was called off due to heavy rainfall and a waterlogged pitch.

However, reports revealed that the first goal for the home side was an own goal, which came via the boot of Tornadoes’ defender, Abiodun Adebayo, in the 26 minutes; he turned the ball into his own net with a flick that left his goalkeeper, Omoregie Nobas, napping.

Two minutes into the added time of the first half, Stephen Odey doubled MFM’s lead.

Fidelis Ilechukwu, MFM head coach, named a start-list without the pair of Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Musa Newman, meaning former Heartland man, Isah Akor, led the line with Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosun playing off him.

Abdullahi Biffo, Tornadoes coach, meanwhile, lined up his best performers in recent matches in Ismaila Gata, Bolaji Adeyemo, Gabriel Wassa, Samuel Tswanya and Wilfred Ammeh.

The Minna side remained in the 16th place with 20 points and is yet to win a point on the road.
