Some members of the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) have warned election riggers in the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State to desist from such act.

They also vowed to deliver Olorogun O’tega Emerhor for the governorship seat of the state and Daniel Odongharo for Warri North constituency in  the state House of Assembly.

MEND, through a group known as Concerned Ex-militants for Good Governance (CMGG), while briefing newsmen in Warri after a crucial meeting with top ex-militants across the wards, also stated that the era of rigging was over beginning from the time President Goodluck Jonathan who lost his reelection bid to General Muhammadu Buhari in the just concluded Presidential election.

Addressing journalists,

The duo of Egbene Monye (aka General Black) and Yana Worwei (aka Young Leader) disclosed that the reason for the closed door meeting was to focus on a direction to follow in this Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections and to “take a stand against all PDP faithful rigging elections in Warri North constituency”.

They vowed to protect the votes of the electorate against “election devourers”.

The ex-militant leaders, however, commended President Goodluck Jonathan for accepting defeat at the Presidential poll.

“We have seen the ‘Ijaw’ in our brother President Goodluck Jonathan because Ijaw means truth.

“We therefore urge other ex-militant leaders and youths across the federation to shun violence and embrace peace which is the only way to transformation.”
