Mechanic Charged To Court Over alleged N1m Fraud

A 45-year-old auto mechanic, Gbenga Daramola, was on Monday docked before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly defrauding one Dr Leke Pitan of N1m.

Daramola was alleged to have collected the said N1m from Pitan to repair his vehicle, but failed to do so.
He is standing trial on charges bordering on fraud, conversion ?and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Corporal Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the accused committed the offences in 2015 in Lagos.
He alleged that the accused collected the money from Pitan on the guise that he would repair his ?Mercedes Benz S600 with registration number EPE 800 DU, but “Instead of repairing the vehicle, the accused converted the money to his personal use,” the prosecutor said.
Osuji alleged that the accused damaged the brain box of the Mercedes and the side mirror valued at ?N200, 000.
He said the offences contravened Sections 312 (2), 285 and 337 (7) ? of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. Kusanu, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till ?April 26 April for mention.
