Asaba – Indigenes of Illah, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, are now living in fear of the unknown as the Delta State Police Command continues its clampdown on troublemakers following the violent clash by two rival groups in the community.
Members of two rival factions were engaged in a violent confrontation at the weekend accompanied by shooting and attacks on rival members over who would take charge of affairs at the Otu-Illah Market.
Mr. Zeal Ugbode, an indigene of the community, told Independent, that “the police have feasted on the situation. Over 10 Hilux vans filled with policemen were deployed in the community which led to the arrest of many due to heavy presence of policemen.
“Many indigenes of the community had been going and returning from Asaba as they are being arrested and released, so people are now very mindful of their movement and actions so as not to be seen as trouble makers,” he said.
