A staff of Redeemer University, Ede, Osun State on Thursday narrowly escaped death when his official car ran into a moving train at Orita-Olaiya junction.

The Ilorin bound train while approaching the junction hooted a warning by pressing its horn consistently but apparently, the young man who had rolled up his side glasses and enjoying the music coming from the car radio did not hear the horn from the train.

According to an eyewitness, the driver of the car simply identified as Owolabi and one other had joined the convoy of a bullion van to beat the traffic when the train hit the car.

It was gathered that the driver and the occupant of the Toyota Corola car with registration number Lagos KTU 957 CF narrowly escape death as the train only brush the car off the track.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) which arrived immediately after the incident later towed the car to their office for necessary action.

An official of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) who did not want his name in print, said that the man did not observe the flag, carried by two officials of the railway because of his concentration to the loud music in his car.
